globalHOME Meeting, 13th March 2008, 6pm

We are having our first meeting for 2008 on Thursday 13th March, 6pm.

The meeting will be held at the Medical Education Unit Conference room - it is in Edward Ford downstairs and across the outside pathway into the building on the other side (I think where room 113 is …. at the end of the corridor).

There will be signs in Edward Ford, so follow them!

The main aims of the meeting will be as follows:

1. Elect various positions to the committee

• Chair
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Publicity
• Web Master
• Education / What’s on - finding out about resources of interest and  liasing with Web Master to get onto website
• Sponsorship

2. 2008, the year ahead

• Discuss ideas from last year and other suggestions about what we plan to do

• Postcards events
• Postcards website
• Red Party (AMSA GHN National initiative)
• Promoting awareness of Millenium Development Goals
• Other ideas (We are always interested in new ideas)

3. GHG, GHN, AMSA Global and the IFMSA

• A quick overview of the various layers of global health activities for medical students

4. Other business

5. Continue at the pub!

• Time permitting

This is an opportunity for all interested persons to get involved with globalHOME, whether that be in a position or not.

We are a VERY informal group - whilst we have positions they are the bare minimum we felt were needed just to ensure that there would be someone responsible for certain aspects. We encourage people to get involved in all aspects.

At the end of the day, we are nothing without YOU. We really want people that are passionate about global health and don’t mind devoting a small amount of their time to planning, organising and running events.
